Going for Gold

Run What You Brung continued last night in the most mercenary manner possible.

Playing Order of the Stick Craig took the Hafling Rogue and specialised in following everyone else around waiting for them to die hideously and then scooping up thier loot. Excellent job.

Meanwhile the rest of us played out the first round of the Gladiator League;

Rogurius Caninus Secundus is proud to invite the new Britannia Ludi to join the Britannia Premirius Leagusta.
Each Ludus over the course of the year will visit and fight each other twice, one at home and once at the away stadium. At the end of the year the top 2 Ludi will fight in the Super Pit, the winner will be able to travel to Gaul to pit his gladiators against the best Rome has to offer during the official ‘Round the Fringe’ tour.

Gladiators meet …

Tuesday saw the first night of competition for our Ludi (gladiator school). While the preparation had all been rather tongue in cheek the action soon got serious out there on the sand.

The Big Gaul goes down after giving Rickanus (Steve's Champion) a big scare!

After getting their gladiators at auction the Ludi Managers were pitted against each other in 9 thrilling matches. Obviously no one told the gladiators or the crowd that on the fringes deaths are supposed to happen less !!!

Tuesday night was Gladiator Night !

What with a brief visit to the nearby establishment while awaiting keys the evenings talk got to around to setting up an on going Gladiator School ‘league’ using the new Red Sand, Blue Sky rules from 2Hour Wargames. Later on in the evening we ran some intro games which were all very amusing …
The actual ‘campaign’ will kick (the sand) off next week with an auction of Gladiators from the ‘Homeland’ to enable the fledgling Britannia ‘Fringe’ league to get off to a good start … Fame,fortune and perhaps a little puerile humour with the names awaits ..

If anyone fancies joining in … the league will run in the background to other club activities, then let us know :)

For those about to die, we salute you!!

This Tuesday saw the wrap-up of the 5150 campaign with a four way game to capture the ANCIENT ARTIFACT, a Galactic-Gate offering the possiblity of travel across time and space.

Making the early charge I was quickly shot down, in the back, by Rich J’s stealthy approach whilst Ian and Jon took each other on. Jon’s dice eventually defeated him. Forced to make his move by mounting caualties Ian rushed in using the Gate as cover. A few missile rounds took him out,…. as well as the Gate. Oh well!!

Meanwhile, on a t able not so far away, Gladiatoral combat featured. Using Two Hour Wargames “Red Sand, Blue Sky” rules we’ll be running a quick campaign so if you think you can do better than Proximo at running your own school then enter the arena!
