The Spice of Life

The third Tuesday of every month is usually reserved for one-off games. Tonight’s excitement included…

It's not as cold as it looks down the club.

A dragon rampages around Carcassonne.

US forces storm the jungle.

... but the Japanese hold firm.

If you like map tiles and counters, Munchkin Quest is the game for you!

Jon has venomous flying crabs.

Thankfully, Rob isn't doing much better!

Next week we’ll be back to the delights of Ian’s Blood Bowl league and Shadoblade’s Warhammer Quest campaign.

Banzai

This week there was a breakout of the dreaded “have to work late” amongst the Blood Bowl players so rather than leave them to make up games the rest of us had a “no-brainer” night with ZOMBIES!!

Elsewhere the Warhammer Quest boys picked thier campaign back up whilst Rich and Shaun ran through the final draft of the new edition of FUBAR. The entire rules fit on one side of A4 and are entirely FREE.

Next week the club will be hosting a multiplayer Pacific game, as part of this month’s open gaming night, with plenty of spare figures available so I you want to try them out then sign up on the forums!

BANZAI!!!

It's a long road for Warhammer Quest!

Gotta be starting something?

This club night was the last before our new gaming structure, with an extra meeting each month, comes into effect and was a great example of our open gaming nights.

Rich J got an irregular WWII Pacific campaign underway whilst James dug out his copy of Crimson Skies and the rest of us got in some practice games of Blood-Bowl Sevens for the upcoming campaign league. Twelve gamers rolling out three very different games with a few cups of tea and a bag of doughnuts. Winner :)

Feel free to give us a game whenever you get the chance!

Everyone's a critic. A warm up game for the Blood Bowl 7s league

USMC hit the Japanese beach in 15mm with Ambush Alley

Held at the beachline the USMC are made to pay dearly for each yard gained!

Gamesfest 04 – Show report

wpc1658e94

As previously mentioned upon these hallowed pages the Enfield Gamers attended GamesFest 4 in a number of capacities.

The show itself  had an excellent local feel with a number of star turns, step forward such luminaries as Jervis Johnson, Gav Thorpe and Steve Jackson of Fighting Fantasy fame. Events, traders and guests ran the length of the wargaming, roleplay and sci-fi / fantasy art and literature worlds. Something for everyone.

Captain Shepard reporting for duty.......aarghhh!!

Captain Shepard reporting for duty.......aarghhh!!

As a club we ran two sets of games, the first being Spartan Game’s The Uncharted Seas.

Charlie took the lead running a number of interested ‘Festers through the rules. Several of us ”helped out” with such useful cries as “he’s sunk your battle-ship!” and a number of witty Sea-men based retorts.

Our own Mr Christian was so impressed that he finally invested in his own Bone Griffon fleet to join my own. He remained deaf to my suggestion of naming his battleship “Bounty”!

Meanwhile, four members were representing the club within the 40k doubles tournament being run by the Watford Games Club.

After sweeping all challengers aside Shado and Mike S were faced with stouter resistance in their final, title deciding, game. With the tournament going down to the very last dice roll they were beaten into second place by a mere 45 points!

A grand effort and there’s always next year.

At lunchtime Rich J’s Pacific ’44 game took over with several waves of US marines storming ashore in an attempt to take “Heart-blake Lidge”.

Mixed results were to be had though the opening shots of the club’s ongoing Pacifc campaign have now been fired. See the link on your right hand site to visit the campaign blog!

All in all a successful and enthralling visit for the Enfield Gamers with purchases and new friends made as we wrapped up the day. Many thanks to the ‘Fests organiser and we look foward to next year.
