December update

Evenin’ all

Apologies for the lack of updates. This time I can’t go blaming technology, I’ve just been a bit caught up with LIFE.

Last Tuesday saw the fourth round of the Mordheim wilderness campaign “The Grimoire of Grunburg” which is coming nicely to the boil. A certain seer has been escorted to an Arcane Fulcrum to perform an ANCIENT RITUAL to locate the aforementioned publication. Next session is Tuesday 6th so if you fancy influencing the outcome then come see us, with your warband.

Meanwhile one of newest members, Lewis, will be running a Necromunda campaign in the New Year. For more details and to sign up click on through to the forums!

Top Dog

This Tuesday night saw the third round of the Mordheim wilderness campign, the Grimoire of Grunburg. The brief for the evening was Top Dog with the two Skaven, Greenskin and Dwarf warbands set to take each other on with a 3 way fight for top Reikland contender and a Possessed / Undead encounter rounding out the first round of the evening.

Unfortunately real world lurgy saw a bit of a reshuffle and my Greenskins ended up in the middle of a Reikland sandwich. The rat-off featured two of the top three rated warbands but the most vicious fight was the Dwarf grude-off. It was a flurry of beards, beer and battle-axes, apparantly it was kicking out time!

The next round of the campaign will be Tuesday 22nd with next week being run what you brung. Check out the forums for what’s on offer!

Animosity plays a part as the Goblins take on everyone, including themselves!

Flying fur as the Skaven take each other as the top and third ranked warbands!

It's a Dwarf-off. Beards, beer and grudges all over the place!

There’s a Rat in Grun-Burg, whatch ya gonna do?

Last night saw the second round of the club’s Mordheim wilderness campaign, The Grimoire of Grun-Burg, and our two Skaven warbands dominated the evening. Sweeping most of those before them they have avoided each other so far, nefarious plot?, but sometime soon they’ll have to scratch each others eyes out for Top Rat!

Round 2 was cash and wyrdstone tastic, the first round being either Chance Encounter or Hidden Treasure (random) with the multi-player “Pit-Fight” based on Breakthrough with bonus treasure chests. For some there was glory and lucre, for others there were a few deaths, the price of adventuring.

Jon's Possessed charge in.........

....whilst Rich's Skaven run run away.... with all the loot!

The clash at the Cross-roads. No inn though!!

Next round is Tuesday 8th Novemember. Feel free to bring a rat-trap, especially if you’re handy with a flute!

And now for something completely different!!

Following on from the first night of the Mordheim campaign this week was open gaming with a total of five different systems being played. Most of the club were trying out something new whilst the rest of us rolled out and old favourite and stuck the kettle on!

Following on the recent Mantic theme Stuart and Richard ran through a game of their new offering Warpath. Stuart is lucky enugh to be getting sent a starter set but it hadn’t made it yet so it was proxy time, Space Wolves vs Uruk Hai and Moria Goblins. It looked weird but reports were, with two games run, that it played well though the Marauders need plenty of cover!

4 Musketeers Songs of Blades stylee, which one's Titus Pulo?

Shaun and Rich J ran through Songs of Blades and Musketeers with some semi-proxied printer paper musketeers. Out to kidnap Lady De Winter the .Cardinel’s men put up a stiff fight before chucking her in a sack and riding off into the epilogue.

Dystopian Wars moves from the high seas to a deep harbour

Elsewhere Ian and Charlie moved their steampunk fleet clash too shallower waters laying out a harbour with defensive islands in an attempt to hijack a newly trialed Dreadnought. Charlie was trying his British fleet for the first time launching multiple waves of torpedos at Ian’s Prussians only to see most of them nullified or avoided. Inside the torp screen the Prussian big guns took their toll. A painful lesson but there’s always tea and crumpet to rely on!

An oldie but a goodie. Run for that helicopter!!

The rest of us rolled out a game of Zombies and then played through a mini game of Malifaux just to add something else to the mix.

Bandit Country

North London has seen a number of civil disturbances over the last couple of months, which seemed to have abated, so last night the Enfield Gamer went Bounty Hunting on the first evening of our Mordheim campaign.

What most people, including myself, didn’t realise was that the bandits would put up such a fight as they did. In most of the four games that took part across our ten players the bandits caused more casualties than any warband. Eventually they were all captured and turned into the mysteriously eclectic Count of the local town Grun-Burg.

Said Count runs regular gladitorial pit fights that all the warband were invited too take part in with the lure of bonus XP and plenty of filthy lucre. No-one refused, why would they!?

The next round of the Mordheim campaign is in two meetings time on Tuesday 25th. Next meeting, Tuesday 18th, is Open Gaming. Feel free to join us for either!
