Dreadball League Kicked off…

With a 40K battle going on in the background the ‘Twisties – super Galactic snack” League kicked off, here is what happened:

Evening DB fans…
Quentin ‘da Man’ Barnes and Kev Eatit; remember we can’t pronounce his real Orxish name, here at USPN with your favourite sports program; ‘Talk DB’.
Tonight we look at the first weeks games in the new ‘Twisties – the snack every Orx loves’ League. It threw up a few surprises…
It certainly did QB… ran out of Twisties half way through the first round of matches which I had streaming into my I-shades. Could’ve eaten the hind leg of a Veer…
KEV, Kev, you know those days are over…
Sorry QB, sorry folks at home, only a little jesting there. But thank goodness that Twisties (the snack I love) had sent me the odd boxful to keep me going. Right from the first launch there wasn’t time to lift a cheek and fa…
KEV, that’s enough of your digestive habits. Fans, if you missed these games I’d be subsribing to our ‘DB playback’ option as soon as possible. The first round of matches sure gave some the more experienced teams a real shock as new galactic wide franchises laid down their intentions. Tsunami were touted to be a team to watch and they had hardly put a strike out of place during the pre-season.
Nothing against the squeaky, long tailed vermin QB but I thought the Tsunami were going to eat the Biters up and shi…
Kev! Sorry folks it always takes a few weeks; and a few letters from the lawyers; before it sinks in to Kev that he aint at home talking with his buddies. But I agree with the sentiment, it seemed a no brainer. But a shocking start from the Tsunami made it that so they were continually trying to scrape back into the game. At one point they had three players sent off in one rush as they desperately slammed a Biter striker to the ground. Rushing off down the stadium it looked as if they would hit the strike holo and win the game…
Yeh pity that Mowkait couldn’t hit a Forge Father’s belly with a …
Kev… we all know he missed there is no need for…
Sorry QB, sorry folks at home. But if he’d hit the holo it would have won them the game…
Shame his folks hadn’t bought him the latest ‘I-strike holo’ play strike zone – as made by our show sponsor Soni – when he was little. If they had there was no way he would have missed. Real shock for Dick ‘second place is another name for loser’ Jones, the Tsunami coach, hope he still has his job next in a fortnight! Good job he led the Tsunami to a good victory in the second game against the ‘Orx with no name’.
Enough of that game QB, what about the Packers first game against those losers from the Milky Way… Who said height is big thing in Dreadball…
No shock there Kev. Steve ‘pass it’ Fase is a new coach in the League and came up against Ian ‘smash them’ Dawes, one of the most experienced coaches in the Galaxy who always puts the might of the Forge Father line to damn fine use. 7 point landslide in the fifth rush for the home team.
QB – I heard they were still picking bits of those two humans off the crowd force screen three hours after the match, apparently they will not need to go through the first two stages in the recyke centre! Good job it wasn’t an Orx crowd there would have been even less left…
Vic, Vic, I’m sure you exaggerate slightly… but he did well to pull his team together and win the second game against the Biters. I think the gruelling game against the Tsunami took its toll on the Veermyn. Most of the crowd had left before the eleventh rush I believe. Meanwhile the Green Tray Packers had a shock loss to the Hemer Raiders. They certainly needed a pick me up, like the delicious toasted snack – Twisties – after the game. It is believed that the Packers management have put in a complaint to Digby about reported specist chanting from the Raiders’ crowd.
OH yeh I heard that – was real funny … Short legs, short legs he must have been a runt, couldn’t sprint to save his dinner cos he’s a little…
VIC, VIC, I don’t think we need the details, Digby are looking into it…
Sorry QB, sorry folks at home. In the next game I was sure my bro were going to cream ‘Charlie’s Angels’… There was only three of them left standing and on the pitch or dug-out in one rush.
Vic, you know that’s not their name… But it seemed they were going to be left with no players. How they managed to pull it back to win by one in the last rush is beyond me; might be in the running for ‘escape of the season’. The rookie coach ‘ Richard ‘Bunker’ M almost pulled off a shock. Maybe the first games runaway win against the Mjolnir Rangers had made the human team a bit complacent.
QB – I could still paste that defence of the Rangers, even at my age they were seriously cra…
Vic…Give the Rangers a break, it was a disappointing week for the them. Having to buy in a rookie coach right at the start of the season must have been a nightmare for the management. Hopefully in a fortnight they will be more settled. They were taken apart in the second game by ‘Beer Money’ who were coming off a solid landslide win over the Prowlers. In fact early money is piling onto ‘Beer Money’ who seemed pretty solid in both games.
QB – they haven’t been tested yet, wait til they come up against some teams determined to make them eat their own …
Well Vic… We will have to wait and see but Rich ‘Bud’ Cooke their coach seems pretty confident. SO folks don’t forget to eat those Twisties and catch up with Vic (if the complaints are not to great) and myself in a fortnight.
Hey QB pass the water man, these Twisties taste like something you’d find hangin’ off a Veermyn’s ar…
ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz TRANSMISSION BROKEN ……….
Next week sees some practice DB matches ready for the Copper Bowl outing next weekend…
Also on the cards is 40K and a Space Hulk go out … so come and join us.

Imperial strikes hard.

Our 40k league saw a frantic night of action as the commanders tried to keep the opposition away from the lucrative scavenging grounds and then in the second game made a major assault the each others bases.

Turns out the Imperial Guard are hard to get off a big hill!

The league wraps up next session and with everyone up to speed with the new ruled we will embark on a 1500-2000 point Planetary Empires campaign next month. So if you want in let us know.

Planetary Recon… and a bit of the Wild West

Unfortunately, not a lot of Firefly gaming (although it is a thought) but rather:

Our 40K campaign kicked off at 500 points this week with 10 armies locked into patrol sized battles the planet surface. Meanwhile in the corner Steve took on Ben in a shoot out using LOTOW.

If you want to join in the 500 point 4oK fun escalation league (500 points at moment) then come on down next week.
